Mixed Singles Report
The Mixed Singles event at the UKCTTA National Championships 2026 attracted a strong field of competitors, including 13 players ranked within the Table Tennis England Top 100 rankings. The high standard of play was evident throughout the day, with several closely contested matches and a number of outstanding performances.
Following the completion of the group stages, sixteen players advanced to the knockout rounds. The field included 2024 UKCTTA National Champion Radoslav Kamberov, 2025 runner-up Larry Trumposkas, alongside leading contenders Munib Ahmad, Emmanuel Asante, Omair Mauthoor, Oleh Biletskyi, Abdullah Ubaidullah, John Payne and Jaycee Chan.
The group stage proved highly competitive, with several qualification places decided by game ratios after players finished level on points. Tournament officials were required to calculate game differences to determine the final standings in a number of groups.
In the knockout rounds, 2024 champion Radoslav Kamberov demonstrated why he remains one of the country’s top players. He progressed confidently through the draw, defeating Abdullah Ubaidullah, Romanye Stewart and surprise package Yifu Zhang to reach the final.
One of the standout stories of the tournament was Yifu Zhang. After emerging from the group stages, Zhang produced a series of excellent performances to reach the semi-finals, where he eventually lost to Kamberov after an impressive run. Zhang went on to defeat Munib Ahmad in the third-place playoff to secure a deserved place on the podium.
The closest match of the tournament came in the first semi-final between Larry Trumposkas and Munib Ahmad. Ahmad raced into a two-game lead and looked set for a place in the final. However, Trumposkas showed tremendous determination and experience to fight back, winning three consecutive games and completing a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory.
In the second semi-final, Kamberov continued his strong form by overcoming Zhang to book his place in the championship match.
The final brought together two of the tournament favourites: 2024 Champion Radoslav Kamberov and 2025 runner-up Larry Trumposkas. The match lived up to expectations and went the full five games. Larry fought back strongly after losing the opening game to take the second and third games, putting himself within one game of the title. However, Camberov showed the composure and experience of a former champion, taking the fourth game before securing the deciding fifth game 11-7 to claim the 2026 UKCTTA National Mixed Singles title.

The 2026 Mixed Singles Championship concluded with Radoslav Kamberov producing a dominant tournament performance to add another UKCTTA National title to his achievements, while Larry Trumposkas once again finished as runner-up after a memorable and hard-fought final.
