3^rd UKCTTA National Singles Championship

The 3rd UKCTTA National Single’s Championship was held on 18th of March 2007 at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. It was attracted over 70 table tennis players from London, Sheffield, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Cleveland, South Yorkshire and Newcastle. The Championship included Men’s Singles, Men’s Consolation, Ladies' Singles, U18 Junior Singles and U13 Boys Singles.

The initial stage of the event was in groups using the best of five system, 5 to 6 players in a group. Top two players from each group were placed in a knock out fixtures. All winners, runner-ups and semi-finalists have been presented with trophies and cash prizes.

In the Senior Men’s semi final, Zeng Wang beat Guang Shi who was the winner of the 2nd UKCTTA National Championship while Peter Lau beat Tai Ching Koo but lost to Zheng Wang in the final and Shi beat Koo to get the 3rd place.

In the Ladies' Singles, Xia Ma who is a former top ranked player in China and Shuying Xu who is a young excellent player have put up an excellent show for everyone at the final. Although Ma won 3:2 over Xu in early group matches, Eventually, Xu beat Ma 3:0 in the final.

In the U18 Boys Singles semi final, Kim Daybell beat Eddie Lau and Zheng Wang beat Eric Wan. In the final, Zheng Wang also beat Kim Daybell 3:0 to win his second title, and Eric beat Eddie to get the 2nd runner-up position.

In the U13 Boys Singles, Dominic Wong finished 4th place, Keiran Ng finished 3rd, Michael Wu was second and the winner was Eric Wan.

In the Consolation Competition, Gordon Pang took the fourth place, Xing Qin was third, Terrence Tang finished second and the winner was Yeong Guan Kho.
